This Weeks Rant or Non Rant in this Case the retirement of a Legend, The End of The Season and Happy Holiday's.

Well this is not really a rant this is a dedication to one of my all time favorite drivers, a recap of the season, and a special message to all Dale Earnhardt's Cabin visitors.

Well let's see here is where I will begin with this post 29 years ago a brash young man named Darrell Waltrip made his NASCAR debut. During this man's career he has been both hated and then at the end of his career loved by the fans. When his career first started he was known as a loud mouth who wasn't afraid to boast about his accomplishments and to say exactly what he thought on any issue. Due to his outspoken nature Darrell was nicknamed Jaws by Cale Yarborough because as he put it Darrell always had his jaws flapping to say something. Thru the years Darrell's career and his attitude changed. He became a devout Christian and Family man. Darrell was the Winston Cup Champion in 1981, 1982 and 1985. When he started to show his sense of humor to the fans as well as winning championships and when Rusty Wallace spun Darrell out at the Winston which cost Darrell the win and $200,000 Darrell then became a fan favorite. Proof of this is that Darrell won the Most Popular driver in 1989 and 1990. The year 1989 became the year that on his 17th try in the Tide car #17 Darrell Waltrip won his first and only Daytona 500. The dance that he did in victory lane is something that no fan of Nascar Winston Cup racing will ever forget. On November 20, 2000 DW raced for the final time and now NASCAR will never be the same as it once was. The always smiling always joking face that has been a part of the NASCAR garage has now hung up his helmet to enter the broadcast booth. Darrell from someone who has been a fan of yours for 22 years congratulations on a wonderful racing career and thanks for the many wonderful memories you have provided us all with. Good Luck to you Darrell and may God Bless.

Okay a recap of the season which is going to be short. This has been the year of ups and the year of downs. Dale Jarrett won The Great American Race the Daytona 500 (I know this because I was there LOL) this season. Bobby Labonte became the Winston cup Champion in 2000 for the first time in his career. There was also tragedy this year with the death's of Adam Petty and Kenny Irwin at Loudon may they both rest in peace. Tony Stewart won the most races this season and anybody who knows me knows that's tough to admit. Rusty Wallace ended up leading the most laps on the season. Bill Elliott again won the Most Popular driver for 2000, and Matt Kennseth was Nascar's Rookie of the Year.

Now is the time for my special message to all the visitors of Ticia's Dale Earnhardt Cabin. May all of you and your families have a Happy, Healthy, and Safe Holiday season from my family to yours. Dear Lord please bless everyone who visits this page and their families and let them stay safe and healthy during this holiday season and through out the New Year. AMEN

TICIA
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
