Farewell To Dale Earnhardt, Congratulations to Kevin Harvick, and a Rant of Support to the Earnhardt Family.
Well, hello and welcome to Ticia’s Rants and this is the first Rant of this Season. I figure you can figure out why I
have waited so long to do this rant. Anyone who knows me knows that I have been a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt’s
since 1979 when I was 5 1/2 years old. I just haven’t had the heart to do a rant until now so here we go so to
speak.
I was at the Daytona 500 this year I drove all the way from New Jersey to Daytona to see my favorite
driver race in the Daytona 500 for the second year in a row. A trip that had begun with such joy quickly turned
into sorrow when at 6:20 PM on Sunday February 18, 2001 the announcement came across 700 AM and
announced that my favorite driver since I can remember was tragically killed in turn 4 at the Daytona 500. I was
broken hearted and swore at the time that though Dale was gone I was still going to watch NASCAR because that is what he would want all of us to do. I still have a favorite driver his name is the same he just has a Jr. at the end of it and I’ll cheer on the son every bit as hard and as lovingly as I did his dad for 22 years. GOOD LUCK TO YOU JUNIOR I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST YOU’RE A GREAT GUY! I can honestly tell you that our trip home was a rememberable one. I had on my Dale Earnhardt jacket and everyone would stop to pay their condolences and tell us their favorite memory of Dale Earnhardt. I can’t even begin to tell you how that made us feel we thank the people of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina for their thoughtfulness and the out pouring of love that they showed us and for the love they had for the Intimidator and the man in black. It helped to heal the hurt if only a little bit.
Yesterday on March 11, 2001 was the Cracker Barrel 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and again my juices as a racing fan were ignited. What a great race and it was wonderful to see Kevin win his first Winston Cup Race on only his 3rd try. Again we see the #3 show up at a race. Since Dale’s tragic death every race has had a caution on lap 3 I guess the Tears In Heaven are still crying because one of NASCAR’s greatest drivers is no longer here on earth with us. Dale is always with us in spirit though and I feel the last 3 races have shown that to all of us NASCAR fans. I just want to say this last thing about yesterday’s race. CONGRATULATIONS KEVIN YOU RACED A GREAT RACE AND YOU BROUGHT US TEARS OF JOY AFTER THREE WEEKS OF TEARS OF
SORROW! Now on to the rant portion of this post.
My rant this week and until I find something else to complain about is the fight between Teresa Earnhardt and the Earnhardt family against the Orlando Sentinel and other news entities who are trying to get the Autopsy photo’s of Dale Earnhardt. Let me say this right now I’m in full support of Teresa and the entire Earnhardt family in their fight against these News entities who want to further exploit Dale’s tragic death. I ask all of you who come to this site and read this Rant to go to the links that I’m adding to this Rant and support the Earnhardt family in their fight against these news entities by signing the 3 petitions that I have placed on this page.
I feel that the Earnhardt family has a right to their privacy at this terrible time of sorrow for them and I feel that there is no need for the courts to allow these trash newspapers and news stations to have public access to these records. I know as do many of you that if the judge allows for these photos to be made public it will only be a matter of time before these photos end up on the Internet. As a fan of Dale’s for 22 years and as a witness to his death in person I know that I for one do not want to have these photos released to the public. I just want to remember Dale the way he was a great person and a great driver as well as a great hero to so many for so many years. Please let’s let Dale rest in peace and let’s let his family grieve the loss of a Husband, Father, Son and Brother. I’m sure that their pain knows no bounds and they have the right to grieve and really what will the release of these photos really accomplish? The papers claim that the people have a right to know what caused the death of their hero and perhaps they are right but personally I feel what difference does it make the results are still going to be the same Dale will still be gone and all the photos are going to do is anguish Dale’s family and fans who have loved him and his family for so many years. Please let Dale Rest In Peace we as his fans owe him that
much.
Well all in closing just let me add these last few words. Farewell to you Dale and thank you for the 22 years of joy that you have provided my family and your many fans with over the years. Rest In Peace Dale and may the good Lord comfort you and keep you until we all see you again in the Lord’s presence. To Teresa and the rest of Dale’s family may God comfort you and keep you all safe during this terrible time in your lives and know that you have the love and support of many.
